Distributed estimation of relative position of nodes within a wireless sensor network

The goal is to survey possible technical solutions to the task of distributed estimation of a structure of a network of mobile vehicles, that is estimating the distances and and directions. Among the physical principles, the radio waves seem the most applicable due to ubiquitious wireless networking. The task will be to explore the potentials and pitfalls related to the use of wireless networking protokols. A strong preference for the use of off-the-shelf components and standard protocols will be exerted.

Control and modeling for piezoelectric actuators

The goal is to buld an experimental laboratory setup for linear micropositioning using stick-slip and ultrasonic actuators. Laser interferometer will be used as the sensor. Diverse feedback control schemes will be designed tested.
